Nightmares. It’s probably safe to say that everyone has had a nightmare at one time or another. Some of us have probably had more than our share. You may have told yourself upon awakening from a nightmare that “it was only a dream”. Dreams aren’t real, are they? What if someone could remove that nightmare from your brain? Just pull it right out so it would bother you no longer? Sounds great to me! What would they do with the creature? Why put it in a cage on display, of course.
That’s just a tiny part of the storyline of NIGHTMARE, but as someone who suffers from recurring dreams and nightmares I was beginning to think of this book as therapy before I was half into it. But the nightmares weren’t very cooperative and didn’t like being in a zoo. So, you have that plot happening and another one going on with one of people who had a major nightmare removed…it all equals one shitstorm of a great novel.
Glen Krisch is a great storyteller. I loved this book just as much as his others. His writing flows so easily it’s as if he were watching the events unfold and telling of them as he types. I hope you pick this one up today and enjoy it as much as I did!
